Platelet Rich Plasma Therapy for Animals

Why use Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP)? The body heals itself with growth factors, (simply put these are proteins produced by one cell that can tell other cells what to do) which are found in limited quantities throughout the body. The first cell to arrive at damaged tissue is the platelet. Platelets contain a variety of Growth Factors. Problem is that significant injuries exceed the body’s ability to heal sufficiently. By drawing some blood, we concentrate platelets and suspend them in plasma. This growth factor rich solution can then be injected into areas where the body is having issues healing on its own, or to areas that may be healing but we desire more rapid resolution.
